Changes to Individual Tax Return Services for 2025
At Smith Shearer, we’ve always taken pride in supporting our local community, including the preparation of individual tax returns. While our core focus has always been on business clients, it has been a privilege to offer this service to individuals over the years, and we are sincerely grateful for the trust placed in us.
As our firm continues to grow and evolve to meet the increasingly complex needs of our business clients, we have made the decision to no longer accept new casual individual tax clients for the 2025 tax year.
What does this mean?
- We will continue to offer individual tax return services for:
- Existing individual tax clients
- Immediate family members of current clients
- Referrals that come directly through our business client base
- We will not be accepting new, unrelated individual tax clients this year.

There are a number of alternative options available, including:
- Lodging online directly with the ATO via MyTax
- Seeking assistance from other local accounting firms
Please note that we are not directly recommending any specific providers, and individuals will need to make their own enquiries.
We will begin taking bookings for casual client appointments (for eligible clients only) from mid to late July.
